Denee Benton

Actress, The Gilded Age

Denée Benton is a Tony Award-nominated actress who stars as Peggy Scott in the critically acclaimed HBOMax series, “The Gilded Age”. She was last seen in the new Peacock feature film, “GENIE”, and the independent feature, “Our Friend”, which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. She previously starred as ‘Ruby’ in the second season of Lifetime’s acclaimed television series “UnREAL”. She recently returned to Broadway as Cinderella starring in the hit revival of the Tony Award Winning production of “Into The Woods”, a role she originated last year in the Encores!, City Center, Production, for which she garnered rave reviews. She also starred as ‘Eliza’ in Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical “Hamilton” and is well known for starring as ‘Natasha’ in the Broadway production of “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812”. For “The Great Comet”, Benton was nominated for the 2017 Tony Award, Drama League Distinguished Performance Award, Theatre World Award, and Lilly Award. She had previously played the role of ‘Natasha’ at the American Repertory Theater and starred as ‘Nabulungi’ in the West End and U.S. national tour of “The Book of Mormon”. Benton is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.

Sonja Warfield

Writer, The Gilded Age

Sonja Warfield is a comedy writer who began her career writing for the Emmy-Award winning sitcom Will & Grace. From there she went on to write for the ABC comedy Jake in Progress and the hit BET series The Game, where she was executive story editor. She was co-producer of the BET comedy series Zoe Ever After, starring Brandy Norwood. Ms. Warfield has had development deals with Sony Pictures Television that led to her writing pilots for NBC and ABC. Additionally, she has written two pilots for HBO. Ms. Warfield also writes feature films and has written an adaption of a novel into a screenplay for Alcon Entertainment and 2S, a Hilary Swank production company. She serves as an adjunct professor at The University Of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts where she earned her B.A. in Cinema-Television Critical Studies.

Dr. Armen Henderson

Penn Towne Scholar, Physician, Activist

Armen Henderson, MD, MBA, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Miami University and an internal medicine physician. As a volunteer with the Miami chapter of Dream Defenders, a civil rights organization formed shortly after the death of Trayvon Martin, Henderson has sought to improve the plight of the impoverished amid the pandemic, going out into the homeless community to conduct free COVID-19 testing, distribute face masks and other personal protective equipment, and provide information and resources on the virus. Armen graduated from Meharry Medical College and completed a residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University – Owen Graduate School of Management. As an undergraduate, he studied Biology and Chemistry at the Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
